Percussion: Week of February 10 - 16

Thank you all for your help at the NTCA contest this past week. Many of you made very impactful contributions to this huge event and thank you all for your service for the program and the performers.

This week will offer our last pep band performance, and is a week before numerous performances over the 20-22.

We have Pass Off 7 due this week and one NFPE rehearsal. All after school rehearsals will be on Monday-Wednesday as most directors will be at TMEA this week.

Supplies

Please make sure you bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day.

1 box of tissues per student is requested. One has observed this request.

Drumline Jersey Order - Payments are past due

Please make payments for jerseys this week.

Please make payments for jersey’s through the following process:

1) Each jersey is $55.

2) Provide payments to the band boosters. Click HERE for instructions and different payment options.

3) If paying digitally, include a note that the payment is for jerseys and the student’s name. Send a screenshot with the payment confirmation to ncollins@garlandisd.net

4) Please pay for what you can as soon as you can. All jerseys should have been paid in full by Friday, November 22. Thank you to those who have met this deadline!

Urban Air Re-Opening Ceremony - Saturday, February 15

Thank you to those that quickly responded to our survey last week regarding the opportunity to perform at the Urban Air - Garland Grand Opening. Based on your responses, we will participate in this event.

Concert Band Rehearsals This Week

Wind Ensemble will rehearse on Monday and Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. Symphonic Band will meet on Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. Please continue to stay aware of communications from Mr. Falls and Mr. Choi for rehearsal plans.

Final Pep Band Performance - 8th Grade Night!

This Tuesday, February 11, will be our last basketball game performance this year in a “Pep Band” format. 8th graders from Webb and Sellers will be joining us!

This week, Fabian, Joshua, and Moises are signed up to participate. It would be good to have 1 or 2 more students ready to participate for this week.

On February 11, Moises, Joshua, Kathy and Malenah are currently scheduled to perform.

The 2025 Pep Band musical selections are as follows:

• Cheer Riffs (Bad Romance, Let’s Go Band, Land of 1000, Iron Man)

• Hip Hop Stadium Blasters (Powerline, Face The Bass)

• 7 Nation Army

• Treasure

• Fight Song

We will not be reviewing these songs in class moving forward so that we can focus on our other material. Students should have their flip folder for performances. It is encouraged that students listen to these songs so you have an idea of what common drum set parts are that could be used.

Performers should wear their green Ranger Band shirt.

UIL Solo and Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble Concert, NTX Percussion Festival and TWU Pre-UIL - February 20-22

We have a lot of events between February 20-22. Please take note below. Each event has details on our event page.

• Our Winter Percussion Ensemble Concert will be on Friday, February 21 from 7pm-8pm at Naaman Forest, Student Call Time is 5:30.

• The Dress Rehearsal for our Winter Percussion Ensemble Concert will be Thursday, February 20 from 3:00-8:30.

• Wind Ensemble will be participating at the TWU Pre-UIL festival on Thursday, February 20 during the school day.

• UIL Region Solo and Ensemble will be in the morning on Saturday, February 22 at Rowlett HS

• The North Texas Percussion Festival will be Saturday, February 22 at Forney HS.
