Percussion: Week of March 1 - 7

Congratulations on representing yourselves well this weekend at the NTPF. I admire your work, and the growth you’ve all shown through learning our ensemble rep.

We switch gears this week and fully embrace concert season. Make sure you are prepared for our upcoming rehearsals and performances.

Cycle 3, Week 9 (B Week), March 1 - 7

Monday
- During A1 - Pad Fundamentals, Symphonic Band sectional, Pass Off make-ups
- No Rehearsal after school
Tuesday
- WIND ENSEMBLE (B5) CALL TIME IS 7:00am
  - Set up for Valdres, Folk Song, and Shimmering from 7-7:10, Individual Practice until 7:30, Full band from 8:00-9:00
- During B5 + B6 - Pad Fundamentals, NTPF Reflection and Full Band
- During B7 - Pad and Mallet Fundamentals, band music
- Symphonic Band from 3:30-5:00pm (with Percussion)
Wednesday
- During A1 - Band Sectional and Mallet Fundamentals
- No Rehearsal after school
  - Enhancement for the week is Tenors Pt 1 from 6:00-6:30
  - Middle School Drum Club will rehearse from 6:30-8. Feel free to stay and help if you are free and interested.
Thursday
- WIND ENSEMBLE (B5) CALL TIME IS 7:00am
  - Set up for Valdres, Folk Song, and Shimmering from 7-7:10, Individual Practice until 8:00, Full band from 8:00-9:00
- During B5 + B6 - Mallet Fundamentals, Band Music Sectionals and Full Band
- During B7 - Pad and Mallet Fundamentals, Band Music
- Wind Ensemble from 3:30 - 5:30pm
Friday (B Day)
- WIND ENSEMBLE (B5) CALL TIME IS 7:00am
  - Set up for Valdres, Folk Song, and Shimmering from 7-7:10, Mallet Pass Off until 8:00, Full band from 8:00-9:00
- During B5 + B6 - Mallet Fundamentals, Band Music Sectionals and Full Band
- During B7 - Pad and Mallet Fundamentals, Full Band

Saturday
- Guardians Camp at NFHS from 9am-9pm

North Texas Percussion Festival

Congratulations again on two fine performances! We will take time in class on Tuesday to break it all down.
We do not have judges feedback yet. I will provide a link to the tapes via the Band App when they are available.
With the results that have been provided, we did not finish in the top 10.

Concert Band Season

Upcoming Performances

Spring Band Concert on March 9 at 7pm. Student call time is 5pm
GISD Pre-UIL on March 11
Region 3 UIL Concert and Sight Reading on March 31 and April 1.

Enhancement Series/MS Drum Club

This week’s Enhancement will be Tenors. Enhancements are held on Wednesdays from 6-6:30. Click HERE to register.

Guardians Drum Corps Audition Camp at Naaman Forest on March 7

Naaman Forest High School will host the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps for their audition camp on Saturday, March 7, from 9am-9pm.

This will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in drum corps and wants to learn more through an active experience. Guardians is an organization that has taken progressive steps to provide a positive experience and wants to be a “bridge” into the world of drum corps. Therefore, it will be focused on education, and developing the skills of performing at the higher levels. With this model, membership is more affordable and requires less of a time commitment. I also believe the percussion staff is a highly qualified group of educators.

Drumline Jersey Payment

Drumline Jersey payments are past due. Multiple students/families have not made payments and will be receiving notice in the coming week requesting payments be made immediately. Please review past weekly percussion updates for details on costs and how to provide payment.
