Percussion: Oct 18 - 24
“Welcome Back.” That may sound a little silly following our activities during fall break. Congratulations on your success the past two weekends. In just 8 days, you have earned a class championship, best percussion award, a unanimous division 1 rating, and have qualified for the UIL Area Contest. Your work this season is paying off. Let’s keep it up and add more achievements with the several contests we have still on the horizon.
When we return on Tuesday, we plan to focus on cleaning and adding more impact to your show. We have rehearsals on Wednesday and Friday, with a game on Thursday. UIL Area contest is a full day event with a Preliminary and Final round.

Cycle 2 Grading + All-Region/Semester Solo Project
Cycle 2 sees far less “participation” grades as we wrap up our marching season on November 10. As a result, all grades, including our performance grades will have a greater impact on your grade in band. Be advised that zeros will have a greater impact on your overall grade. Please turn in pass off videos when they are due.
Pass off 5 (2nd half of snare etude) is due by the end of the day on Friday, October 30.
video recordings must have clear audio, with face, hands and playing surface in view.
videos should be uploaded to our band app chat thread or emailed to Mr. Collins if there are technical difficulties.
Drumline Jerseys
Please make a payment this week if you have not already done so.
Drumline Jerseys are In! Students will be receiving their jersey on Monday. This year, they cost $59. If you ordered and are receiving a jersey this year, you will need to reimburse the band boosters for this purchase. Jerseys must be paid before Thanksgiving break. Paying in installments is acceptable, but please make at least 1 payment every month from September-November.
3 of 10 have provided an initial payment.
