Percussion: Week of July 26 - Aug 1
Great work last week during our “drumline camp.” We truly got stronger through the week. Let’s keep the momentum up.
In addition to reviewing our schedule for the next two weeks, please note the important announcements below. We have added 2 performances and I have added digital access to our drumline music and warm-ups.
Full Band Camp, July 26 - Aug 1

Sunday
No rehearsals, free
Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31 - July Drumline Camp
Daily from 9:00am - 4:00pm
Lunch will be from 12:00-1:00pm, every day, aligning with the full band
Students will need to provide own lunch
Percussionists will need to meet all expectations placed on the full band during lunch. This includes acceptable eating areas and any potential off-campus permissions.
Students will need to have the following each day:
reusable water bottle (1/2 gallon recommended, students may use the band ice machine)
comfortable athletic clothing, appropriate for being active outdoors.
Students are also encouraged to have a hoodie or lightweight jacket if it is cooler during indoor rehearsals.
Hat and closed toed athletic shoes
Sunscreen for battery members.
Additional Event on Friday, July 31, Hawaiian Waters
This is the Naaman Forest sponsored trip to go to Hawaiian Waters.
Money for tickets was due this past Friday.
Students will be responsible for their own transportation.
This is an optional event and only for those that have already signed up.
Additional details will be provided on the Band App.

August 3 - 7 - Band Camp Week 3 UPDATED CAMP TIMES
MONDAY, AUGUST 3 IS NOW FROM 6:30AM-12PM
6:30 - Call Time for all percussion students
7:00 - Performance at the Curtis Culwell Center (CCC) for the District Transportation Summit
8:00-12:00pm - Camp rehearsal
12:00pm - Students are dismissed for the day
Tuesday - Friday will be from 1:00 - 8:00pm
Dinner Break will be from 4:00 - 5:00
Thursday, August 6 - Tentative date for Ranger Roundup, Band will perform
NEW EVENT Saturday, August 8 Drumline Performance for MAC Ribbon Cutting at 10:00am
Call time will be 9:30am
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will begin at 10:00am
At this time, it is uncertain if we will alter our itenerary after this ceremony. We currently have Drill Camp scheduled from 12:00-4:00pm on August 8, after the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Saturdays in August (1, 8,15, 22, 29) - Drill Camp from 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Rehearsals for all members in band, including front ensemble

Additional Performances Added to our Schedule
We have been invited to participate in 2 upcoming events to support our community. There will now be some adjustments to our schedule as a result. My apologies for the late addition. Thank you in advance for planning accordingly. Please reach out to Mr. Collins as soon as possible with any concerns.
August 3, Performance for Transportation Department and Adjusted Camp Schedule - 6:30am - 12pm
6:30am - Call Time for all percussionists.
7:00am - 8:00am - Performance at the CCC for the Transportation Department kick off celebration
Students need to wear Naaman Forest spirit items, Jersey’s are preferred.
8:00am - 8:30am - Transition/Break
8:30am - 12:00pm - Camp Rehearsal
12:00pm - All Percussionists are dismissed for the day.
Note - Due to the morning performance, percussionists will now have a new and different schedule than the rest of the band. This schedule applies only to Monday, August 3.
August 8, Performance for the NFHS Campus MAC (Multi-purpose Activity Center) Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - 9:30am - 11:00am
9:30am - Call Time for all percussionists
10:00am - Performance and Participation at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
11:00am - Lunch Break
12:00pm-4:00pm - Drill Camp Rehearsal
Lessons and Takeaways From Drumline Camp
Great work at camp this past week. Our potential is at an all time high! Here are some lessons we can take away from camp to prepare us for even better results moving forward.
Attendance - While we steady became more “on-time” and had higher attendance as the week progressed, it was not without issue. We have yet to have a day where every student is present. Yes, things come up, but it quickly adds up. Please be proactive in your planning and health to do your absolute best to be present.
Transportation - At this point, make sure you have 1-2 backup options in the event your planned ride doesn’t workout. Make friends with other families and see who may live in your area.
Supplies - Please make sure we meet all supplies expectations at all times. We should not have any more days without water bottles, hats, or inappropriate footwear.
Food - There were a lot of great lunches that looked delicious and healthy! Keep it up and do your best to avoid fatty, fried and fast food.
Communication - Keep up the good work on responding and letting Mr. Collins know when conflicts come up. Please make sure you are proactive in your communication and know that Mr. Collins will always work to support you if something is going on.
